Our Technlogy

At Biteback, we are optimizing processes by improving yeast strains, enhancing fermentation efficiencies, identifying the best, most cost-effective, and environmentally sustainable feedstocks

Low-cost feedstock

Utilizing feedstock from agriculture waste stream for sugar/carbon source by using inexpensive enzymatic hydrolysis.

Oil-producing yeast strain

Using adaptive laboratory evolution, we selected a yeast strain capable of producing lipids/oils under environmental stressors and nutrient restriction. This platform allows us to continue to screen and develop more strain for more optimized yield and different fatty acid profiles.

Open-air fermentation

We have developed an optimized medium for non-sterile fermentation to maintain axenic culture. This technique is much less expensive compared to using a bioreactor.

Oil refine technique

We have developed an efficient lipid extraction process, downstream refining, and dry fractionation to get desirable end-product characteristics (e.g. solid at room temperature).

The Results

“We have developed a low-cost, precision fermentation technique that allows us to offer competitively-priced functional fats and oils solutions.”
